Small Banks In Georgia Being Crushed By Economy

State banking crisis impacting metro, rural banks

A few years ago "community banks" were the beacon of hope.   They were profitable and provided an alternative to the mega-banks that had branches that spanned the coasts wither vertically or horizontally and in some cases both.

Recently there has been a tremendous shakeout in the banking sector.  Where I live I see at least 2 upstart banks that are closed.  Their newly constructed buildings have "For Lease" signs on them.
